how do I figure out what color a part is?
Ok, so I downloaded a 3ds model and converted it to a .AC file. the color selector in the lower left corner shows colors 1-55, (1 being the black, 2, being the white, ...) where colors 22-48 are various shades of gold. One or more of these 26 variations is used for the parts of the model,
How can I click on surface, and then look up what color it is using? If I click on a color, and then drag the transparency, I can see the parts change color in the model, but this is a very time consuming way to do this, going through all of the stored color palletes... |

Right click on the material, and an edit screen will pop-up. Also, in surface mode, select a surface, and it will tell you which number material it is at the bottom menu.
This wouldn't be the lunar module by any chance would it ? Last edited by donamy; 4th April 2012 at 10:55 AM. |

Ahh!!! there it is! Thank you!!! the "surface material" number shows up in the middle of the bottom status bar for a few seconds after it hi-lights. The trick is:
1) you must be in surface mode, 2) you must select only one surface. if you group several surfaces, the surface material number doesn't show up. Its not the lunar lander, I'm working on an Abrams M1 tank I downloaded. Very nice model. Thanks again, Jon |
