LAAT republic gunship
Okay, I have been building up to this for some time and have decided I now have sufficient skills and experience to build my dream vehicle - the Star wars Republic Gunship - Low Altitude Assault Transport. I fell in love with this vehicle as soon as it appeared in the Clone Wars movies, and have wanted to build my own CG version for quite a while. I have managed to collect a considerable amount of research images and hopefully will do it justice. This will be a very long and detailed build. Anyone who knows me will know that I design and build every nut and bolt ending up with mega million polygon models. So I will not post each and every step, but I will try to keep regular updates at significant milestones. I've started with the pilot and co-pilot to get the scale right so I'll post a couple of images shortly.

Re: LAAT republic gunship
I am going to place a few troopers throughout the final scene, so I intend to make a basic template and then customise each individual clone. However, for the pilot and co-pilot I think I can get away with a helmet, torso and arms. Head first

Re: LAAT republic gunship
Been busy working on sketches for a kids book I am writing. All the illustrations are AC3D models. Will post some images when I can but not until I have exhausted all possibilities of getting a publisher first.
In the meantime I thought I should do a bit more of my LAAT to keep me sane. So, some sketches of the pilot and helmet detail. |
