My brother and I have been unable to understand why an AC3D object exported to X-Plane seems to always change to triangles when viewed in Planemaker?
In AC3D, the objects are fine and appear as normal quads, but are somehow converted to triangles in the export process to X-Plane? We have adjusted the setting in AC3D to under Advanced to UNTICK "Triangulate quads" We must be missing something else somewhere? Ideas please? Ultimately, all geometry will be turned into triangles so it's possible that whilst stored in quads, Planemaker triangulates them on loading the obj file.
Try loading the obj file back into AC3D and see if the quads still exist. If so, it's nothing to worry about. |

X-Plane's current OBJ file format (version 8) requires triangles.
There used to be support for quads in version 2 of the OBJ format. (If I remember correctly support for v2 objects was dropped in X-Plane 9.) cheers Peter Quote:
