Digital Human -- Cant Extrude
I picked up a book on creating a human body with 3D modelers. He does not seem to have a preference to any one in particular, so I figured I could use AC3D. Everything was going good until after I made the rough "sketch". I made a box for the head and moved the back lower two vertices up a little, like the book instructed. Then it says to extrude the bottom surface to make the neck... When I tried to do that, it just made a 2D square in the shape of the bottom surface. What am I doing wrong? How do I get it to extrude a solid 3D shape as an extension off the original shape?

Wait! I think I figured it out! Is Bevel what I wanted to do? If it isn't than could you tell me what it is?

No you need extrude
when you select your surface press e or click extrude then set the settings; Check Cap end and remove original, make sure flip new surfaces is unchecked
