![]() ![]() Is that okay, or does it need to be more obviously contoured? ![]() I changed that, too. Luckily the parts that were messed up by the move I had to make aren't visible when the entire model is visible. All I know is that the domes house some sort of crystal, like the ones in the ships in the mid to late 23rd century. That is what they covered, right? Also, you're correct in understanding that I didn't boolean that. I've had bad experiences with boolean. I took a cylinder, reshaped it, and knifed the surfaces from the front. Then I extruded the surfaces aftward. As a side note, not all of the surfaces get knifed properly. If it isn't a single surface knifing another surface, it doesn't divide. You have to slice the surface manually with the vertices created by the knifing.

I think that feels a bit better but going further, let's consider that those rectilinear shapes have something to do with the two side nozzles. Maybe adding a third one would better tie in those shapes to what's going on below them?
And, yes, there was a deflecting crystal below a similar dome shape, back in the day, but you have a whole different thing going on here. I'm not suggesting you loose it, but consider what it (or any detail item) is there for. Wow, that whole knifing-cylinder workaround is kinda like scratching your left ear with your right hand. It gets it done, but seems like a lot of work. Thanks for the pics. |

![]() ![]() Forward exhaust port: Vectored port for high speed reversing. Three rear exhaust ports: Vectored ports for enhanced maneuvering at high speed. Dark gray greebling: Spatial membrane contour localization sensors. Detects the contour of the universal membrane. Dome: Spatial membrane contour dampeners. Smooths out distortions in the universal membrane Rectilinear objects: Specialized sensors for vectored impulse thrust. Work in conjunction with the other two components to determine direction and thrust from each exhaust port. Make sense? Some of these systems have to deal with qualities of space assumed by String (aka M) Theory. I'm kinda taking a bit of artistic liberty with the whole theory, but it basically follows the assumption that the universe is a 10 dimensional membrane. Should I explain this whole theory or no?

BTW, each time I use boolean, I have the unfortunate result of hundreds of small disconnected surfaces which just bog my computer down. It also looks bad when done on my computer. The results never looked very clean.
Example ![]() ![]() This was from deck 2 of my attempted Bonhomme Richard Class.

Well, based on a suggestion from the esteemed DesignR, I redesigned the details of the impulse sensors:
![]() Also, I did some work on the secondary navigational deflector: ![]() Also, I'm toying with some of the window ideas I've had. I want to have a really large rec deck in the front, shown by the massive windows: ![]()

At the moment, I'm toying with the notion of a primary deflector array like the one on the Dauntless in ST VOY: Hope and Fear.
![]() Any thoughts? It's just an idea, I'm not sure if I'll use it or not.

Well, I'm currently bogged down with classwork, so I'm not making too much progress. I did add a small bit of detailing, though.
![]() I'm not sure if I like the Ablative Shield Generator's look.

Well, fellows, I finally did a bit of a render of my current progress. Here's what it looks like.

Hey there mate long time no see. Interesting ship design. Have you finally been able to model the ship from your drawing?

Actually, the drawings I posted got tossed out. Well, not literally, but I was dissatisfied with them. This is a new design I developed this summer while at Penn State for Governor's School. It's actually based on two previous designs I had made back about two years ago when I was still a sophomore. It took its basic shape from an early Avenger concept and the warp grille fins came from the Arcadia Class.
