Default ATCsimulator3-Tower Edition

Hello everyone. I am currently working on my next air traffic control simulator, that will be a 3d tower simulation. I am using AC3D to create the airport and other needed models. here are a few screen shots of the game. I am using Dark Basic Professional as my engine, and these shots are showing the use of the DarkClouds addon. This realtime cloud system uses the timeclock to also simulate sunrises, sunsets. So, when it's dark, the runway/taxiway lighting system needs to be active. I am using self-illuminating spheres to simulate the runway lighting as to not react to changes in the ambient light settings. here are 3 shots, morning, midday and evening. As you can see, it is a WIP, and there are many building models left to add. So, it's got a way to go yet.

Official product announcement will be found at www.atcsimulator.com. Release date is planned for late 2009, or early 2010. Be looking for it.

Wow, I just checked out your web page. Your air traffic sim looks *very* detailed in terms of the things it's simulating. I'd have never thought of simulating traffic versus flight, but as soon as I read about what it does I can very much imagine there'd be many people totally into that.

Very cool idea!

Just curious, do you work in a tower? How did you learn about air traffic control?

Lisa,

I was an air traffic trainee in 1987. It didn't work out while I was at the Academy, but it stirred my interest in air traffic control that I have built a career upon. So, I set out to combine my programming interest with air traffic to produce the sim you saw at my webpage. That idea was born in 1987, but did not find its place until 2001 with the first publication. There have been a few attempts at a tower simulator, none of which have done a very good job. So, that is what I have set out to do. I'm having to learn as I go, but I am having fun doing it. Your feedback is helping me a lot BTW. :-) And, if you're curious, ATCsimulator 1 and 2 have sold about 60,000 copies to date. So, hopefully, the majority of those users will wish to purchase ATCsimulator3 - Tower Edition.

Hello all,

well, due to changes in programming languages about the time I started this project, I put it aside to get caught up on some training. So, I have ressurrected the idea and am redoing it. It is now named "TOWER CAB". There is a fan page on facebook at www.facebook.com/towercab and an official webpage at www.towercab.com

I am recreating everything from scratch, and of course using this great tool, AC3D to do all of the graphics. I am really shooting for Christmas 2012 for release.

Thanks! I am trying to be very meticulous with this and make it the most realistic tower sim on the market. Hang in there for the ride!
