Question 3D Guidelines Script in ac3d 8.0 ????

I attempted to use a script called VGuide.tcl (which includes "3D Guidelines") in ac3d 8.0 and got an error: Error:cannot use geometry manager grid inside.gu...
Details: cannot use geometry manager grid inside .guide.win which already has slaves managed by pack
cannot use geometry manager grid inside .guide.win which already has slaves managed by pack while executing
"grid .guide.win.create -in .guide.win -row 1 -column 1 -padx3"
(procedure "Create_GUI" line 94)
invoked from within
"Create_GUI"
(menu invoke)

The script was created by "thierry st malo" back in 2007, I believe. I really like this script and have used it almost every time that I use ac3d to model something. Is there any chance that it will be updated to run with ac3d 8.0 ?

Sounds like it needs updating for AC3D 8. I'll have a look - please point me to it.

See "New script: 3D guidelines" post by thierry_st_malo on page 2 of AC3D Scripts and Mods.

Please try this one - updated for AC3D 8.

If it works OK, please post it on the original thread.

You got the first part, that generates some vertex point data and angles, working. A second part allows the insertion of a new vertex. The particular one that I use is the insertion of a new vertex an equal distance between the two selected. This new vertex is not along an edge which could be done with ac3d's "Insert Vertex" function. I have included some images illustrating the error. The first image illustrates the display of basic vertex data and angles. The second image indicates the selection of a vertex to be inserted in the middle on the TVI - Guideline UI. The third image shows the error generated.

Thank you

The error indicates that it was attempting to write a file but couldn't. Windows 10 is more picky than Windows 7 etc. and protects the program folder.

Please try this one, which writes the temporary file to your home folder (then deletes it after use).

Smile Re: 3D Guidelines Script in ac3d 8.0 ????

I checked it out and it seems to be working great. I posted the new version on the original thread that was started by "thierry st malo" which is in the AC3D Scripts and Mods section of the forum.

Thanks, Andy
