Default Fuselage tutorial

Hi,
there were a nice tutorial on how to build an airplane fuselage, but I can't find it anymore.

The technic shown was very interesting: basically, four primitive shapes were merged together, and the fuselage was ready.

The four shapes were 3 simple ovals and a rectangle. The rectangle was the fuselage basis, an oval was the fuselage 'entrance' for the pilot, and was standing above the rectangle, on a parallel plane; the other two ovals was on a plane perpendicular to the rectangle, each one at one side of it:

Do you know where to find such a tutorial ?

Thanks,
Sergio.

Hi,
I think you can find it in the AC3D help file ("Create convex surface/object" section).

semar,

Here is a plane making tut I started (but have yet to finish) for the targetware group. The basic fuse construction is there so it should get you started int he right direction.

Note: the way I show you is one of the easier ways to model planes.

Make sure you have dennis's knife plugin as it will save your life.

WARNING* there is a ton of pictures showing you how to do the work. So if your on a 56k you'll be waiting awhile.

@luuckyy,
thank you, I'll check it out once home.

@Razer,
thanks for the tutorial link, it's very well done 8)

Anyway, since I'm quite a novice in AC3D, it is way beyond my knowledge. That's why I'm searching that old tutorial.

Regards,
Sergio.

semar,

if you have any questions about modeling planes just drop me a PM any time.

i also have a small texture mapping tut but you need to crawl before you can run.

you can find some of the planes i've made here:

Hi Razer,

thanks for your kind offer; fact is, I'm way beyond your modeling skill, and I still have to get the grasp out of AC3D first; then I may approach your tutorials - first crawl, then run !!! ;-)

At the moment, I'm modeling cars, just for fun and learning. What puzzles me is, for example, how to produce smooth curved lines for the chassis. I know there's the Surface Subdivision, but that's not really what I mean.

Right now I design the car profile with a line, transform it to a poly, and extrude it. It *seems* indeed a car, but not really appealing, I tell you !

I thought that the Spline function could help, but unfortunately it does not work on a set of vertex which already belong to a shape. It works only on a just created line.

Oh well... back to try and learn.

BTW, you've got very nice planes there ! The third screenshot is my favorite.

Regards,
Sergio.
