Question Scale and dimension an object?

n00b here...

I working on a project where I need to build models of buildings to true 1:1 scale.
Is there any way to assign preferred units (feet/inches) or to dimension these models?

Sure,

If you want to use feet/inches, go to "File -> Settings...", where you can set the "Draw grid major" to 1.0 and the "Draw grid minor (snap grid)" to 0.0833333 - this will give you twelve minor grid units per major grid unit ( 1 / 12 = 0.0833333 ).

In this case, one unit = 1 foot, so you can adjust accordingly for whatever scale you want.

Good luck

EDIT - I used to do this for feet/inches, but I found that when it came to 3D it was a lot easier in the long run to use 1 unit = 1 meter. That 0.083333 division ended up being more trouble than just doing the conversion up front. Your miles may vary, though...

Thanks you for that.
Now, I reckon that the only way to actually dimension an object is to 'count the squares' with the grid to get acurate.
There is no 'creat' (cube) where you can punch in the objects measurements. Is that correct?

If you make a cube, and select it, the dimensions will populate the side dialog. I also place scale items around my objects to make sure scale in three dimensions is correct. Some drawings are less accurate then required.

You can size an object precisely by entering a value in the panel and clicking the "size to" button in the side panel. You can also populate the dialog with the current measurements by clicking the small arrow next to the dialog.
