Question Bathroom Sink

My new project consist of making an house for my favorite 3d chat site. Am in the process of making the bathroom, got the toilet made (in AC3D), and the shower(in VRML), now it is time for the bathroom sink, consisting of half a sphere, with an rectangle set on top. Cut out the center of the retangle to match the outside of the sphere. Now; The question, how do I connect the two objects toegether at the edges, so when I smooth it it will smooth uniformly?

If as you said, the center of the rectangle matches the outside of the sphere, then select your 2 objects, merge them (Object/Merge), and remove the duplicated vertices (Object/Optimize vertices).
Eventually, in vertex mode, before optimizing the vertices, perform a "Vertex/Snap together by distance" (if needed).

Thank you; I will give that a try. When I have tried a 'Vertex/Snap together by distance' It tells me I have to 'select two vertexs from two different objects';.. when I DO have both objects selected.

I am new at this, and maybe I am not understanding how, but I tried that too and it seemed it didn't do nothing. probly did it wrong. will re-read the tutorial on it and giv it a try. Got the bathroom completed except for the sink cabinet doors, would be nice to have the sink correctly done. And Thank you for you continued aid in this.

It can be a bit of an arse, but all in all i think your version of the sink looks better with or without the sewn edges, the page you listed isn't quite working yet but i'll try again later as i would like to see!

Thumbs up Re: Bathroom Sink

He he; Yes it was a tough one, but;... I tried it the way you mentioned and the attached pic is the result. It did result in cleaner edges without having to do all the vertex adjustments. lol. Did have to use a whole sphere to do the cutting (as the half sphere wouldn't cut it), and then redraw the sphere, cut it in half and then place it in the rectangle, and adjust it to the center hole. The intersect and the union options gave me an error. (said it sucessfully did the task but then didn't show any results.)
As for my site, yes yesterday I was fixin it. but if you do not have a vrml viewer loaded on your machine there is a link in the left corner to install one. You may have to actually close the browser after install to get it to work.
