Yeah, I did the same thing to the Battosai, I made a regular one and a damaged one. The damaged one I picked out some places and moved the vertices so it looked like there were dents, cracks, scratches, and missing parts. I'm probably going to knife around the middle so it breaks into pieces and put the explosion in the middle. I refuse to just hit the explode button because that is really unrealistic.

I was making a little 30-second movie involving a space ship battle. I was doing it the hard way: create and render 900 frames. I stopped now that I have Maya. Anyway, I used the noise maker to make it look like a ship exploded. I first changed the color of the ship to red. Then I used the noise maker on all of the objects in the ship to make it look like the ship was falling apart. Then I used the noise maker on the vertices in the ship, and it turned out pretty nice if I do say so myself. I stopped making the movie before actually rendering that scene, and the .pov files are on the wrong hard drive, so I don't have any images.

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet...&siteID=123112

The Personal Learning Edition is free. I got Maya Unlimited for $370 with the student discount. If you want to download the personal learning edition and have a comcast email address, you will need to make another, free email adress at something like www.yahoo.com. For some reason, Autodesk can't send emails to comcast.

Even with Maya, I still use AC3D for things like importing, exporting, and sharing 3D models with my friend in England.
