Default 3D Scanner

I'm working with a 3D scanner that creates STL files of objects seen by the camera.* The 3D scanner is still in it's beta or protoype phase.* I'm looking for software that can stitch together various views.* the common term for this is 'registration.'* Either some points on the mesh are manually picked out and match to other points picked out on a corresponding mesh, or the two meshes are manually moved near each other and then automatically registered.* The reigistration simply aligns the two meshes to each other.* A new mesh can be created from the aligned meshes.*

I want to know if this is something AC3D can do, or has some feature that enables it to something very similar.

thank you,
Brian Ervin
