Default bending a driver

Any ideas on how to easily bend this driver to fit into the cockpit of this car?
I've tried bending the mesh but have ended up messing it up several times.
Any pointers or ideas?

Hi, I had the same problem when trying to bend a pilot, to fit its cockpit... the solution (not sure if it is the correct) was to bend a little, and then adjust manually the messed surfaces, one step at a time, moving vertex as needed... Sorry
Regards Fabrizio

Rigging is probably the best way:
