Default Question about textures and bump mapping

I'm new to this stuff and I was wondering about making textures. I've messed with the built in Texture Coordinate Editor, but I don't believe it is what I want.

For example I was wondering what the best way is to make a texture for a face. I've seen the ones where it is just one full texture that wraps around the entire model. Is there anyway you can do this with AC3D (or an Add-on or external program).

Also once that is straightened out, is bump mapping something used for real-time models. And if so is there any good starting info on that.

Thanks in advance.

Default Re: Question about textures and bump mapping

Okay so I think I'm starting to understand the different types using UV mapping. So onto bump mapping portion.
