Default ac3d crash on importing cockpit OBJ

Hi

If I try to import a cockpit OBJ file into ac3d it crashes w/o error message. Importing any other OBJ file like wings, engines, fuselage, etc. works fine. I have also tried to import the cockpit OBJ of another plane with the same result.

Since I am totally new to ac3d, I wonder if I miss something essential.

OS: Ubuntu 16.04, ac3d Version 8.0.80 (Demo Version), Import plugin 3.3b3

Thanks for any hints.

We recently discovered a problem with subdivision which can occur when large models are loaded. The solution for that was switch off display of subdivisions (in 2d/3d main menus).

If you have no subdivisions, send me the file and I'll take a look.

Hi

Turning subdivision off unfortunately did not help. How can I send you the file?

Thanks for your support!

There are some problems with the file which are causing the crash in the XPlane obj8 loader.

It appears that there are ANIM_end lines without corresponding ANIM_begin's.

I've added an error check for this, which allows the file to load under Linux - please try this linux plugin and let me know if it works for you.

I'd be interested to know where the file came from.

Excellent, the import worked now! Thank you so much!

Now, I only need to figure out how to work with ac3d, but that's a different story

I don't know with what editor the file was produced originally. It is from this aircraft https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php...328-turboprop/

With permission of the author, we have upgraded the model over the last couple of months, also manually editing the OBJ file...
