Default REQUEST: move to cage script (SL)

Recently I've come across a tutorial for 3DsMax for creating sculpties, using a technique by envelopping the object with a projection cage. I do not like 3DS so I was wondering if any gifted scripter would consider writing something like this for AC3D.
This is basically how it would be used:

1. import existing or create new object and center
2. import SL sphere (included with AC3D, has perfect UV map for SL) and center
3. resize SL sphere so it fits around the object
4. divide if necessary
5. script: move vertices of SL sphere to center until they intersect with underlying object

If all goes well, the resulting shape of the sphere will be more or less the same as the object, but with a perfect UV map for SL. Ofcourse not all shapes would work with this method, but it would be great for round, organic shapes, i.e. a head.

I hope if this is at all possible, and if someone is clever and willing enough to actually make it...

In the mean time Blender has released a new version with a shrinkwrap feature (which does exactly the above), and there's also a tutorial on ShinyLife describing how to do it in ZBrush.

No pressure though ;-)
