Default Newbie Question – Linking and or Getting Instrument Panels to appear in 3D

I am learning how to build custom X-Plane 3d cockpits using AC3D and have been reading the many wiki’s, x-plane developer forum, and this forum (thanks for the helpful posts everyone).

I have been able to build a simple 3D cockpit object (and borrowed one from another aircraft as a test) and they both show up fine in the model in 3D mode. I cannot however get the instrument panel to show up in 3D mode while a 3D cockpit object is loaded. It works fine in 2D cockpit, and if I remove my 3D cockpit objects the panel is visible in 3D mode, but I cannot get a cockpit object and a panel to show up at the same time.

Is there a step to designate or link a 3D cockpit object built in AC3D so that it will be the instrument panel.

I can manipulate the cockpit position and pilot view using the viewpoint controls. I also I tried many different combinations in plane-maker viewpoint to show 3D panels, but no Change.

Any help appreciated.

X-plane 9.7 / AC3D 7._
