Default New User - File Import Question

Hi!

I just purchased the software yesterday. For the project that I'm working on, I'm trying to create a "sewing" pattern (3D object) whose design is based on an image file (.jpg, .bmp). The overall concept is that I want to import the image file into the software and use it as a pattern to construct the 3D model.

I tried utilizing a raster to vector conversion software. It yielded a vectorized .dxf file which seemed to import into the AC3D software, but I could not see the image. What am I doing wrong?

Also.... any suggestions on how to proceed with this project would be greatly appreciated. I need to come up to speed on the software as quickly as possible and don't want to waste any time. (This is for a friend's 50th b-day which is rapidly approaching....and after I create the pattern, I'd still have to sew it.)

Thanks for any guidance.

I'm not sure, but maybe surface type? There's a button in the lower left corner that says "poly". Try selecting everything and clicking that, hopefully the surface will show up. If there's nothing to select, then I'd assume the import didn't work.

Sounds like an interesting project!
