Can't seem to make textures work with Pov

I tried making a basic box and adding a GIF / BMP / JPEG texture file onto it. While I can see it applied in the perspective/isometric view in AC3D, when I render it using POVray only the box appears, but no texture on it.

Using linux Slackware 10, POV 3.6, AC3D 3.0a
