Aligning objects with snapgrid OFF

This should be real easy, so I guess I'm missing the obvious...
(1) Turn snap grid OFF
(2) Draw 2 rectangles near each other.

(Now the bit I can't do)

(3) How do I align the right hand edge of one rectangle with the left edge of the other? ie, make the 2 rectangles sit PRECISELY next to each other with no gap between?

The obvious answer is snap-to-grid, but that only works if the rectangles were created with gridsnap ON.

It's GOT to be simple, but eludes me...
