Although I've followed the speed improvement tips in the manual, I still have to wait about a minute between each operation (select, move, rotate, switch views, etc.). The .ac file is around 37 MB.
Any ideas on how I can speed things up short of buying faster hardware?

There are a couple things I can think of at the moment. First, if you havn't defragmented your computer in a while, try that. If you still have problems, clear your internet history and cookies. Go through your C drive and delete any items that you don't use anymore. Scan your computer for viruses and spyware. I have heard about another computer infecting agent called a "parasite", but I am still looking into that (you might want to, too).
If I think of any other things, I'll post 'em here. -Laurifer |

37 meg .ac file! wow! (how many surfaces is it?)
The best I can suggest is to switch into wireframe or hide/lock objects you are not working on. Andy |

I think Andy hit on the problem...
According to model info: Total objects: 42 surfaces: 267584 vertices: 256349 (4 objects comprise about 90% of these surfaces/vertices) Can I use OPTIMIZE VERTICES/SURFACES or REDUCE to make this project more manageable?

Wow - 267 thousand polys!
Reducing might work but it depends on what result you want - you will loose detail (or even initially increase the number of surfaces because Object->reduce creates triangles!) Can you post some pictures of your model so we could perhaps work out where savings could be made? Andy |

I'll PM you a a screen dump of an earlier version of my project (although with far fewer surfaces!). Should give you an idea.
