Default Red Lines

Hmmm...... There are some red lines (edges) of a couple parts of my roof. I had to move some vertices (selected two as an edge, none of which are the red edges). Any ideas as to what is causing this? When I open the TCE with just one surface selected, the one with the red lines, I select the part of my .png that I want but it won't take. Stumped for now. Thanks

Normally the red lines indicate incomplete or unusable polys, these could be caused by incorrect positions of vertices, and thus polys.

To correct, isolate the parts in question, and look at the position of olys and if it is triangulated.

Ok, I "tried". Selected the are as a surface and triangulated. Said it did one and one line did disappear. Hmmmm. How do you check any further for anomalies?

Can I look at your model? See your PM for my e-mail.

When I see these, I usually find that they're polys that have been "turned inside out" by the positions of the vertices relative to each other. Say you've got a flat surface to that box and the vertices are misplaced (usually by drag and drop moving while you edit) such that there's an unnatural "dent" or contour in what should be a flat surface. That would produce the "red line".

Try moving vertices individually until the line disappears (it will do so instantly as you move vertices, once you solve the problem). Or, try subdividing the surface; new line edges between vertice pairs might also solve the issue, or make clearer where you're creating problems with the shape.

Yeah, its the fact you've got a sawtooth looking single poly as a side. Split the sides up into three 5 sided polies each (make them trapezoids), and that should fix the problem.

Hello,
Ok,Just now I have "tried"....And the red lines indicate incomplete polys, so these are the caused by incorrect positions of vertices, & thus polys...so what we have to do is first isolate the parts & look over position of polys...

You can try "Object" "Optimize surfaces". You may lose part of your object, but it was the part that was ######## up anyway.
