Question Having trouble with render

So I have hardly any experience with this except once or twice in blender where it was just click a button and wait. Now I am trying to learn AC3D and modeling, and so I have made some models, and I want to render them, seeing what cool things other people have done with rendering. However when I click render, a box pops up, ok and when I click render it says error and doesn't work, I tried messing around with the render types, etc, but nothing works. SO please help me, I have no idea what to do so if can can please help me thanks in advance.

AC3D needs an external renderer. I believe it looks for POV-Ray by default. You can download it at www.povray.org

Also, if you don't want to have to manually type in all the code to set up the camera angle and lighting, you can export a model to another file type (.obj is my personal favorite) and open it in a program such as PoseRay or Kerkythea where you can manipulate the model directly and enter lights. The nice thing about that is that you can see what you're going to get in the render. When you're done manipulating the model, you can export to POVRay or Moray (I prefer POVRay myself). Once you've done that, you can still enter code in the renderer because the file is exported as scene, material, setup, and object code files.
