yay my newest model.... -RIFLE
Well here I am, back
After my beautiful biplane, I decided to start working on something better, and I play this game called Tremulous and some friends and I are working on a mod for it, and I decided to redo their rifle. So after a lot of work by a beginner modeler, here is the UNTEXTURED first draft!!! Woo, I know it isn't polished, but that's part of the reason why I am showing it, so that people could give as much feedback as possible. Also I know it looks a bit fuzzy, but that's because I copied it into MS Paint, so it is not exactly I high detail photo. It is a based off of a proposed new military semi automatic rifle, and the U.S. Military's new test rifle, the xm8. Also, again, as much feedback as possible is encouraged! So... Here it is:

Very, very nice model, it's a considerable improvement!
I absolutely love the XM8, I've drawn a lot of inspiration from that rifle over the last few years. Do you think it'll ever go into production?

Thanks a lot! I think I read somewhere that the xm8 was canceled, but it looks very cool, so I hope something like it will be used.

Leave it to those stupid Bureaucrats out in Washington to cancel yet another good thing...

Great model...
I have a question, what about the line of site for the aiming rectile. It looks like your line of sight is obstructed with the carrying handle? Just curious... |

Re: yay my newest model.... -RIFLE
Perhaps that's actually a bayonet placement, I've seen similar constructions on older weapons. It is set fairly far back, however. It'd have to be about as long as a short sword. But that is a good question about aiming. How exactly do you accomplish that?

Re: yay my newest model.... -RIFLE
good questions, well yes that is a laser sight, and I'm not sure if it will be implemented. The thing is, normally there would be a scope, or at least iron sights on top of back, highest part of the "handle" however, in the game I'm modeling it for, the default rifle, (which is what I'm hopefully replacing.) neither has, nor needs a scope of any kind, so for right now I'm just leaving it blank, because that's just Tremulous' style.
Thanks a lot.

Re: yay my newest model.... -RIFLE
Hey, I'm back!!! Woo!!
Well I haven't really done much work on this rifle since my last post, so there is no point in showing another photo, pretty much all I've done is fool around with the shoulder rest a little. I've been busy working on other projects (not to mention real life) so that's why I haven't gotten much done. Anyways, the reason that I'm here is that I really some suggestions on how to improve mine. Anything that you can think of that could help me would be greatly appreciated. It just doesn't look finished to me, but I'm not sure what to do. So any advice or tips you can give me, such as: Oh shorten the barrel, or add another handle, or whatever advice you can give me would be great! Thanks, Moose.
