Default Dots on surface

http://www.tomah.com/delliott/image1.jpg
The junction or transition was made using the extrusion tool, meaning first the angled object was created, then the narrow end was extruded into a straight section, my question is how do I elimanate the dots which appear on the surface. Thanks

You probably have a surface in there. In vertex mode, select all the vertices around that area. Switch to surface mode and see if you have one surface selected. If you have, then it's probbaly one 'hidden' in the middle of the model. Press delete to remove it.

Thanks that removed the dots completely. Now I see a faint joint or crease at the junction, did I shift of move something when building the object? TIA

If it doesn't appear from all angles, it's probably normal.
