Default Moving Objects via Object Center

I am trying to align objects (A and B) by making the vertex of object A coincident with the vertex of object B. I adjust the object center of A and another little crosshair appears at my specified vertex. However when performing the move command it defaults back to moving the original object center.

If i try to do this using vertex -> snap objects by vertex, it moves the object but not the vertices.
I think the issue is I need to move 'group by vertex' rather than just the object.

Any ideas?

Are you sure ? I really can't see how it can happen

It could be a polyline left behind during the move ...

"Vertex / Snap objects by vertex" is indeed what your looking for. I use it quite often and never have the result you mentionned.
