Easy Way to Make a Drill?
Okay, just finished watching something the other day that got me wanting to make a drill (Gurren Lagann, if anyone cares). I ended up downloading one someone else had made that looks very nice, but I'm sitting here looking at it going "this should be something I could make proceduraly".
I know AC3D has the Revolve function under Object menu, and that if I were making a realistic drillbit that would be more than enough for what I needed. Thing is, I want the connical shaped drill (see attached image). Is there any easy way to make this in AC3D that I'm not finding?

Re: Easy Way to Make a Drill?
Sorry for the late reply, life is seldom as smooth as we would like it to be
Yes, I think there is a pretty simple way to make a conical drill: just make it cylindrical by rotating a suitable profile and then use Dennis' "box conform" plugin (in the 'Tools' menu) to reshape it into a cone. To do that draw a vertical square-based box and then shrink the 4 topmost vertices to nearly 0 (but don't collapse them together entirely, the box must still be a box), then call the plugin and follow its instructions. Easier then you think... Last edited by coldby; 18th May 2015 at 04:54 AM. Reason: attaching images |

I'm bummed. Box conform is windows only...
Andy, what are the chances you could make a Linux version? |
