Default MAKE A WHOLE?????

Hi !

I'm new!, I got AC3D v6, I read the manual and I didn't find how make a simple whole like a porthole on a wall???????? ops:

I saw only random wholes on 3 kinds of pieces!

I made a Big Piece of wreck Titanic and I need to make the 8 portholes!

I'm going to be making a tut on easy windows for differnt or oddly shaped objects.

I just figured this one out. I'll be posting my findings soon.

Anyways till then I suggest you look at this post for adding windows into hulls.

my tut is going to be really easy I mean you could put these windows any where.

ooh if you want to make a hole in an surface click the surface you want, go into surface mode. Go up top to where it says objects, surface and vertices click on the surface tool. A list of things should pop up as bevel, indent make hole, etc.
click on the make hole.

I hope this helps

Thanks to try to help me, but your explanations are wrong!!!, I have the v6 of AC3D, I click on the surface and after in mode of the left top there is not surface mode.....??????, I can't access on the Objects in the top of the screen????

Anyway, finally I found an option Make a Whole, when I click on it, I can't control the shape, I got a triangle hole, and I want a circle, and I want to control the position where I want make a Whole....????

I REPEAT MY QUESTION: HOW MAKE A PORTHOLE (CIRCLE) ON A WALL?

I used the option Draw a Block, I made a thin wall with that, now how pierce a simple circle whole inside?, is it possible or not?

Well, the simplest way to make a circular hole in a rectangular surface might be to do this:

1) Create a polygon of the proper shape and size you want your circular port. You'll use this as a visual reference.

2) Select the surface in the hull where you want to make the hole.

3) Surface Mode.... Surface \ Make Hole. This will create a hole of the same shape as the surface itself.

4) Now, in applicable Ortho view, orient your reference porthole shape in front of the hole you created with the Make Hole function.

5) Going to Vertex Mode, select Pairs of vertices and if needed, Vertex / Add Vertice to create extra vertices in the sides of the rectangular hole; your goal is to end up with the same number of vertices in your hole as you have on your visual reference. Drag the vertices to their proper places in the viewports, taking care to align them in all three dimensions, so you don't distort the hull you're creating the viewport in.

6) Once you're done with one hole, use the same visual guide poly for the others, and when you're completely done, Edit\Delete the visual guide.

A more complicated way would be to use Booleans to cut the ports, but this could (I predict: WILL) wreak havoc with the original hull, and explode poly count way past where it would be useful.

I lost many time for a simple holes!!!!!!, I'm sorry but I don't understand your explanations, I'M NOVICE..............!, and I worked during 2 months on my project, and it will be finished when I will solve this F....hole problem, so I'm very nervous with that now............!

1) Create a polygon of the proper shape and size you want your circular port. You'll use this as a visual reference.
How make a circular polygon ?, is it possible or not?, incredible if not!

2) Select the surface in the hull where you want to make the hole.
I select my surface wall or surface polygon?

3) Surface Mode.... Surface \ Make Hole. This will create a hole of the same shape as the surface itself.
I apply that on my wall or on the polygon?, if I apply on the wall I got immediatly
a square hole????, if I apply on the polygon I obtain a hole with the same
shape, BUT MORE LITTLE...........!!!!?????

4) Now, in applicable Ortho view, orient your reference porthole shape in front of the hole you created with the Make Hole function.
WHAT???, how make that?, the hole I created IS IN my reference porthole shape?

5) Going to Vertex Mode, select Pairs of vertices and if needed, Vertex / Add Vertice
I DON'T FIND Paires of vertices or Vertex / Add vertice in Vertex Mode?????

I'm very DESPIT with AC3D and his MINUS TUTORIAL!!!!
MANY THANKS FOR TRIED TO HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps this will help:

Be sure to check out the link. It's for an older version of AC3D, but should still work fine.

Nice method for ONE HOLE ONLY !!!!!!!!!, I tried it and it works, but you construct the wall around the hole!

Me I made a piece of wall (hull), and now I want pierce few holes, not one only!

IS IT POSSIBLE OR NOT?????????????????

I suppose it's possible because I read modellers made planes for x-plane with AC3D, how they made the portholes of their aircrafts......????

First I suggest you to calm down, stop crying, and be a little bit more nice with people trying to help you here.
Then the link provided by Dennis seems perfect for what you actually need.

My problem isn't solved, I wrote about few portholes NOT ONE..................!?
My question seems simple?: how make 2 little holes on a hull?

For the third time I ask: if it's possible or not?, I lost the 3 last days to try that, in vain!

Try this one:

1) create an ellipse and place it over the surface you want to put a hole in. It should be a short distance away from the surface.
2) select the new ellipse and the underlying surface
3) switch to vertex mode and select Vertex->Create-convex-surface-object
4) delete the original surfaces and the surfaces in the middle of the 'hole'
5) resize the thickness to zero
