Newbie for sure - question?

Greetings!

I have just discovered AC3D and although still with the trial version, I'm impressed!

Like all newbies, I have a basic question that the answer to will, no doubt, seem ridiculously simple once I know!

If I have a flat disk shape (or any shape, come to that), how can I make it 'bulge'? I've worked out how to make it a shallow cone by lifting the centre vertex, but I'm looking for a more 'round' look, like a very shallow hemisphere?

Please forgive me....
