Question Baking in Ac3d - Please Help

Could someone please give a translated tutorial / instructions on baking like THIS tutorial from blendercookie does for Blender.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to accomplish the same thing in Ac3d and Blender stomps my brain no matter how well the tuts are.

A: Being the original model
B: Being the flat plane with the created normal map.
Settings shown to accomplish this normal map.

Would this be the proper method of creating a basic normal map?
