Detach Faces function?
I have just purchased AC3D and I really like it..When I was useing Anim8or it had a function called 'detach faces"...This allowed me to import a model and detach the faces of the windows so I could select them apart from the whole model in Bryce. How can I do this in AC3D??
Thank you Richard |

Hi Richard,
In the vertex mode, hi-lite the vertices that make up the faces you want to detach. Then from top menu: Surface----> Cut away object. Change back to Object mode and rename those surfaces appropriately in the *Obj Name* box at bottom left. If you want to further split, hide everything except those cutaway faces, and use same technique to further split them away. griff |

Griff has sound advice, but I'd do this in Surface mode instead of Vertex mode. In Vertex mode, if you don't select all vertices of a surfaces, you can end up with vertices assigned to no faces...

I think I just got into the habit Dennis. I probably spend 2/3 of my time in AC3D in the vertex mode ;-)
One of the reasons I like AC3D so much is tight, and easy, control of vertices. It is so easy to keep things lined up nicely griff |
