Default Latest version hiccups

Just purchased a new laptop from PC Specialist. Had it built specifically to allow me to work on my bigger models as my last machine was old and running slow. Downloaded 8.3.30 and seem to be struggling to import some of my work from my external drive. I can work around that but when I try to click on individual surfaces on complex models there is a lag of 10 to 15 seconds before the chosen surface is highlighted and I can work on it.
I am running an Intel i5Quad Core 2.4GHz, with 16GB Corsair 2133MHz DDR4 and a Nvidia GEForce MX250 2.0GB DDR5 Video Ram.
Any thoughts?

Check that AC3D is picking up the graphics card. Look at the text that's shown in the console when it starts. You can make the console stay up from File->Settings->advanced->Show-windows-console.

Thanks Andy.. I’ve got the Info Console up but I’m not sure what I’m looking for.. I have the renderer showing as Intel (R) UHD Graphics 630. I’m guessing this should be my GeForce card - but I am guessing because I don’t really know.

Intel graphics - That explains it. There will be a setting somewhere to use NVidia instead.

Try looking in Geforce Experience.

Andy, sir, you are a genius. Ultimately had to download the Nvidia Control panel which Windows 10 had blocked. Now running with my proper graphics card and all is now right with the world. Than you very much. Now I can get back to finishing off some of my stalled projects.

You should have a donate button - I would happily pay for your advice.
