Question bones in ac3d

Is it possible to create a system of bones in ac3d?
Is it possible to texture only 1 polygon on a cube instead of the whole object?
Is it possible to animate in ac3d?
I have been using ac3d for a year now and was just wondering.

0) AC3D does not support animation.
1) There are only one texture per object in AC3D however you could either select the surface you want then use "surface->cut away object", apply the surface, and group it with it original shape, OR you could create a texture for the whole object which consists of sub images.
2) See point 0 lol

Try milkshape 3d, or blender.

I have used blender and can't stand it.

I actually _do_ like blender for animations. It's a very powerful tool if you just got the grip once. Take a Saturday off, and you have it.
I prefer AC3D for modeling, though.

As a programmer rather than a modeller, i don't touch animation software unless i really have to, and then I wear rubber gloves. Ac3d, on the other hand, is fantastic for generating meshes for testing physics engines.

Indeed. While AC3D doesn't animate, it is possible to create simple skeleton rigs using the hierarchy view and the object centers as joints. The XPlane stuff is particularly nifty if you haven't seen it yet: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...HJ784ALK5pDlCQ Skip ahead to about the 5 minute mark for the Halo ship to get a real feel for what they're doing.

For keyframe (non-physics) animations, I like Poser myself. Blender's too much of a pain for my tastes, and most of the other inexpensive stuff doesn't have inverse kinematics.

my screen is way to high resolution to watch the movie. the movie is about 1.5 inches by 2 inches on my screen when running at its native resolution.
