Hi Reborok,

This plugin works fine, but has some restrictions on morph targets. There are absolutely *no* restrictions I know of for editing the models you import into Poser. All you have to do is create your model, export as OBJ, then import into Poser, and all should work well. The only restrictions come into play when you are editing morph targets (it's explained in the docs).

Don't worry if you don't know what a morph target is just now --- it's something you'll learn as you do character modeling with Poser.

If you intend to make morph targets with this plugin, make sure you read the documentation on the plugin page. There are some restrictions on the way you can edit geometry meant to be exported as a Poser Morph Target.

Also, some other plugins on supercoldmilk.com were built to assist with character modeling. Of all of them, I'd most strongly recommend the Divide Loop plugin:

http://supercoldmilk.com/ac3dplug/divloop.html

I've found this invaluable in character modeling.

Also, for some assistance with UV maps (for texturing your models), I'd recommend these plugins:

http://supercoldmilk.com/ac3dplug/uvmap.html UVMap
http://supercoldmilk.com/ac3dplug/exportuv.html Export UV Map

Good luck!

Thanks lisa for all the infos and the video (the anim is really cool and your capture is ok).
Painting over the 2D wireframe ... I should have guess

BTW : I just saw on your website that you had been involved into a game that I have in my PS2 games collection (Splashdown).
This game was a great fun even if it was already too hard for me in the middle (I'm not what we can call an "hardcore gamer" as you can see ;o))

Glad you enjoyed it!

Tuning is always so tricky. No matter what you do, it's always too hard for some people and too easy for others. <sigh> The magazines really blast you when your game is too "short", and magazine reviewers are all pro players, which is why I think there is a bad tendency for everyone to tune their games too hard.

Personally, my belief is that the best approach is to make the main missions easier then make "side quests" that are optional but quite tricky, although that approach is certainly easier to implement in some genres than it is in others.

I think the free version promotion ended a few months ago, but they run these kind of promotions periodically if you watch for them. (Nice thing is, the free version is still eligible for reduced-cost upgrade to the current version.) I don't think they have anything free right now, though.

If you're looking specifically for something free, you could try Daz Studio instead: http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/software/studio/-/?

Yup, that's the one. You'll also want "Divide Loop"... it makes adding extra faces around the joints and edge loops a snap.

[EDIT: Heh heh. Dennis and I seem to have posted "Get the divide loop plug-in" at the exact same time. ]
