Default Mesh - hiding internal lines?

I'm building a ships hull and used mesh to create the hulls surface to get a tighter fit over the frame rather than the - create surface option. Because the hull is symmetrical I just copied the surface from the one side I'd created and flipped it around the appropriate axis to generate the other side. The result is, I have the original side in the model showing the internal lines of the mesh on the exterior of the hull and the copied surface has the mesh lines on the interior of the hull which must be an effect of flipping the copy. Having the mesh pattern on the interior of the model is what I prefer.

Is there a way of reversing the original mesh so the internal lines can also be interior to my model?
