Default Adding detail

Hello

I have had ac3d for a long time but I have hardly used it till recently. As a bit of practice I am making a nice easy model, a computer mouse.

Can one of you ac3d geniuses give me a tip on how to add detail, in this case I am trying to make the mouse buttons and need to create faces so that I can extrude them to make the outlines of the buttons.

I have tried booleans and adding vertices to existing faces but when moving the new vertices into position to make the shape of the buttons of course the smooth shape of the mouse is spoiled.

Just a clue as to which tool(s) would be best to use would be handy, I can experiment from there.

Many thanks

Paul
