To create a torus

Hi All,

Just joined and been working my way throu the manual, working out how and what things do.

Been trying to get the torus part as shown in the manual to work, but for some reason I do not end up with anything that is show in the manual, are there some bits missing or am I just reading it wrong.

what I end up with is, a round ball that has a drak spot top and bottom.

So does anyone have a step by step guide that they know will work?
