Sure, the TCE (texture coordinate editor) is great for texturing plain polygons.

for me the TCE need an unfold function, maybe i dont use the good method...... how do you do when you unwrap an non primitive object?

That's why I specified plain polygons. AC3D cannot do anything special but spherize the texture at the moment. In any case you could try to unfold manually.. :-/
Or ask to our brave Andy Colebourne (Inivis) when it'll be possible on AC3D.
