First humanoid - male
Well, here goes my first male character. Head is still missing heh, took me a day to do this, the guy in the tutorial did it in 1 hour + something (with the head)
I am hoping the character will be usable in a game (run on java3d). So i am not quiet sure if i should use the one level of subdivision or not. I guess i will just have to try it in the game to see the difference. The vertice and surface count is for half model only (mirror X view on). |

Re: First humanoid - male
Nice work! Very natural 'bow-legged' look and the proportions appear to be (at least to me) pretty spot-on. It does look as if he has a bit of a forward lean that might make him a little awkward during animation. Are you planning on skinning him?

Looking good!
For your game: don't forget, if your engine supports normal-mapping, you can make the character look as smooth as your subdivided version without adding any more polygons. Another trick is to play around with the crease angle, this will also help smooth it out. |

Re: First humanoid - male
Thanks guys.
Well today i gave the head my first shot, found no good low poly head tutorial, so it didn't end up good too many polys and the loop where the neck attaches to the body is too edgy, so i guess i will have to redo the whole thing from start. Anyway, gave the guy a little bigger head, looks funny |
