Default Rotational axis in 3D viewq

I am running 6.4.30, and when I start a new project, the 3D view rotates around the centerpoint of the grid (the red-blue-green x-y-x point). When I create a new object, or retrieve an object from the library, the 3D view rotates around some seemingly random point, way off the center. I can't get it to re-center so that my 3D view is rotating on the center of the grid. Any ideas on this?

Fit All works to focus the center of the whole scene, even if its not centered at zero.
Might have to zoom out a bit in 3D.

Try clicking "reset view" on the menu. You can also reset the focus point by highlighting an object and pressing the 'f' key.

I'm pretty new at this, but I just highlight the whole thing, and drag it to center again.

Nevermind, I just realized what you were saying. Dragging wont work if it just rotates on some random axis, and not the center. Oh well, I'm still gonna play the newb card, so I don't sound like I think I know what I am talking about but don't ha.

Lol.

Highlight the object you want to rotate around, then press the 'f' key on the keyboard. This will move the center of the view from whereever it is to the center of whatever you have highlighted.

The other thing, check and make sure whether you are in "spin" or "walk" mode. There's a small pull-down menu on the title bar of 3D viewport. Make sure it's set to "spin". Walk mode is useful for large scenes, but it can be hard to navigate for viewing objects.
