Re: Avenger Class Starship
Making a nice Startrek ship is not as easy as one would think. So this is really good in my opinion. Have you had a look over at scifi meshes? They are really taking the modeling of Star trek ships quite serious

Re: Avenger Class Starship
Do you mean scifi-meshes.com? Yeah, I've been there. I found a really good model of an Ambassador class starship there. Some of the parts are better than others, though, so I think I'm going to replace a few components with some of my own. Also, have you seen http://www.trekmeshes.ch/ ? That's another good one, exclusively Star Trek. I've actually contributed a model to their cause, even though it's only in the forums and not the main site. Thanks for the compliment!

Re: Avenger Class Starship
Alright, I'm actually going to try and model the interiors for this ship, so wish me luck. I can say right now that this is not going to go well. Anyways, I deleted the bridge module and made a newer, sleeker one, and guess what. My bridge model fit snugly inside with no problems! Never would have anticipated that. I've made a drawing of basically where everything goes and included an image of what everything looks like so far. Again, wish me luck.

Re: Avenger Class Starship
I find it interesting that there is an airlock so close to the bridge, I mean does that not make it really easy to board the ship?
I must say nice modeling, hope to be this good in the future, sooner rather than later I hope. |

Re: Avenger Class Starship
Well, if you've seen Star Trek: The Motion Picture, recall that the Refit Constitution Class Enterprise had a docking port to the rear of the bridge. That's where the Vulcan shuttle docked to transfer Spock aboard. I kinda liked the concept, so I decided to incorporate it. There is a bulkhead right in front of it, and various security measures, so it's relatively safe...actually, it's about as safe as it could possibly be, seeing as how the bridge is always completely exposed on Starfleet vessels. Don't ask why...it's just because Gene Roddenberry said so...
Also, looking at your avatar, it appears that you seem to be a fan of 4chan. Always nice to meet a fellow /b/tard XD

Re: Avenger Class Starship
Because I can.
http://jamietakahashi.deviantart.com...a-III-77159840 First official render of the Avenger. She's still incomplete, but I made sure to hide the parts I haven't put details on yet. And that background...it's mine. It's the best thing I've made in Photoshop to date.

Re: Avenger Class Starship
So I decided to try and make a texture and bump map for the Avenger, since most high-level models appear to have those. I can't say I'm at all pleased with the results, unfortunately. The attached render was just a test render and the map isn't on quite correctly, but that's besides the point. The point is that I don't think I like the way this looks. Any suggestions?
(I'm kinda hoping for a "She doesn't need textures or bump maps, she looks good enough" style response, because I hate using textures. I will admit that she'd look better with a specularity map, though.)
