Default Brim for Zoot suit hat...?

I need a Zoot Suit hat...Basically I need a flat rim with a slight bend down all around it...How would I do that? Kinda like a Zorro hat but not a straight brim...

Hi,

here's my suggestion, there is probably a better way to do it, (I'm still learning!) but I've used the 'Revolve' tool quite a bit, so I hope this might help anyway.

1. Use the polyline tool to draw the outline of the hat, but only half the shape.

2. With the object selected, use the Object -> Revolve tool to create the full hat shape. You might need to switch to a different view to get the hat to revolve the correct way, and select the correct axis (X,Y or Z).

3. With the 'Surface' tool selected, highlight about half the top surfaces. Use the rotate tool to put a 'kink' in the hat so the top is leaning a bit.

4. Now move the rotated surfaces over slightly so that the hat surfaces 'flow' up and over in the direction of the lean.

Hope the above is useful (and the shape is right, from what I can remember about Zoot Suit hats in the 'toons!),

Cheers
Steve
