Smile HMS Hydra

Hi, all!

This is a simplified model of HMS "Hydra", an English armoured coast defence ship of 1881.
I made it because I wanted to give myself a set of rules that would enable me to create ship models in a (relatively) short time, for comparison purposes : a ship is interesting in itself, granted, but it is even more so if you can compare it with other and similar ships.

So, as I just wanted to test my set of rules (simplified models, remember!) I went for simple shapes.

Such as it is, I ported it to Google's 3D Warehouse (I like Sketchup very much for architectural models; for others I use it as a very simple yet efficient renderer, but for sheer ease of use nothing can beat AC3D). You will find it more easily if you search for "TVI".

You can also look at the Picasa album http://picasaweb.google.com/tvisarl/Hydra

Hope you like it.

Thierry

P.S : One of these days I'll go back to "Choctaw". Promised!

Default Re: HMS Hydra

Very nice work as always! You're building yourself quite an armada there.
