Q: Optimize polygon count.
Hello everyone,
I have a question about reducing the polygon count of a model in AC3D. Currently, I am using Freeworld3D as my primary terrain editor. I have exported my terrain as a Wavefront OBJ file and imported it into my modeler, AC3D, as directed in this tutorial: http://www.freeworld3d.org/tutorials...rrainmesh.html. Would there be an optimize feature similar to one in 3ds Max? The reduce option in AC3D doesn't seem to be what I'm looking for. |

Re: Q: Optimize polygon count.
I think the Reduce option is the only similar tool in AC3D. What about it is not giving you the results you're looking for?

Re: Q: Optimize polygon count.
The reduce option doesn't completely combine flat surfaces without losing a lot of detail in the terrain.
The Optimize modifier in 3ds Max appears to combine the unnecessary surfaces with little or no loss to the model's structure. |
