Default Detach Faces function?

I have just purchased AC3D and I really like it..When I was useing Anim8or it had a function called 'detach faces"...This allowed me to import a model and detach the faces of the windows so I could select them apart from the whole model in Bryce. How can I do this in AC3D??

Thank you

Richard

Hi Richard,

In the vertex mode, hi-lite the vertices that make up the faces you want to detach. Then from top menu:

Surface----> Cut away object.

Change back to Object mode and rename those surfaces appropriately in the *Obj Name* box at bottom left.

If you want to further split, hide everything except those cutaway faces, and use same technique to further split them away.

Griff has sound advice, but I'd do this in Surface mode instead of Vertex mode. In Vertex mode, if you don't select all vertices of a surfaces, you can end up with vertices assigned to no faces...

I think I just got into the habit Dennis. I probably spend 2/3 of my time in AC3D in the vertex mode ;-)

One of the reasons I like AC3D so much is tight, and easy, control of vertices. It is so easy to keep things lined up nicely
