Default Boolean Subtract Glitch/Error

Hello. I have a cube and a cylinder. The cylinder is in the middle of the cube and the top is sticking out above the cube and the bottom is sticking out underneath. When i use subtract, a hole is made within the cube, which is what i want, except when i texture the area, the are these weird rectangular shapes surrounding the cylinder subtraction. What should i do?

I have also tried this with a sphere and no luck.

Looks like the texture uv-mapping is changed in the surfaces being booleaned. Try to remapp the floor texture. That should fix it. This usually happens when you boolean surfaces. You need to remap that area.

Thanks for the prompt response. Probably a very basic question, but how would I go about doing that? Please be as specific and possible. Thanks in advance!

Select all the floor surfaces exept the pit. Open the Texture coordinate editor(F10) and under remap, choose top. That should do it
