Question Picture in AC3D?

Hello everyone,

I have been trying different Modeling software such Wing 3D, Milkshape and so on.

I am please to say that AC3D was easy Model to used.

I got questions that I would like to ask.

You know when you put picture of Car in AC3D and I want to model the Car by Copying them of using the Modeling such as CUBE against the picture of the car then later on....Expand the model of the car into width that I have done to make look like a Car

for example

here the picture that I going to used

How do I get the picture in AC3D?

thank you for reading

It's called, "Setting background images". You need to segment your auto graphic into at least 3 (up to 5) separate graphics, ensure their relative scale is identical, and then place them into the viewports. You don't need to create a cube to place the graphics onto, as you do in Max and other modelers. However, it helps to have a "bounding box" with the model's proper dimensions, as an aid to positioning and sizing the background images.

This YouTube! video explains the process. Sorry the audio is so low It didn't upload to YouTube very well.

PM me if you want a copy with better sound.

Question Re: Picture in AC3D?

Sorry for the delay.

Thanks for telling how put background picture in

Here what I have done so far

This one isnt quite right but what cause to happen like this

This one is almost perfect which I was happy with and it would be nice if was same(blow picture) as above instead of showing somethings that isnt right like what I say on first picture

Not bad eh?
IF I can get the whole Van working in 3D modelings then I will be able to texture them

One questions...

How do I texture them?

On your first extrusion, the problem is that your surfaces are facing inward, and are two-sided.

To fix that:

1) Select entire object in Object Mode.
2) At the bottom left of the GUI, click the 1S button.
3) Switch to Surface mode. (all surfaces will be colored as "selected")
3) In the Surface menu, select Flip Normal.

As for the shape of the car itself, you're not capturing the shape properly. It is not possible to correctly model a car by tracing a polygon in a side view and extruding. It may match the drawing in the side view, but it certainly won't match the drawing in the front view. Doing it that way, you will miss all the contours, the least of which, the difference in width between the top of the car and the body.

You will need to learn something about basic 3D box modeling concepts before you get better results. Perhaps do a Google search for "box modeling techniques"
