Default Help with importing .eps file

All-

I'm trying to create some objects, and the easiest way I can see to do it is to import the shapes as an eps file, and then extrude and then mirror the object created to get what I am trying to come up with.

The problem i am having is when I import the eps file, AC3D doesn't do anything with it.

The way that I am coming up with the eps file is taking a black and white jpg importing it into Illustrator, and autotracing the objects and exporting that as an eps, and trying to import it into AC3D.

Any help or insite into what I may be doing wrong would be very helpful.

Thanks,

Scott K.

My best guess is the format of the EPS file.
IE, the version number of the EPS.

From my recollection Illustrator 3.0 compatibility was pretty safe.
I think above 6.0 it gets pretty hairy, certainly current versions
are saving a ton of data like gradient mesh and a high res TIFF preview.

So save as Illustrator 3.0 or 5.0 version.
I'm pretty sure version 1.0 would work too if thats even an option anymore.

That should work. Good luck.

Ok, so I miss spoke. AC3d doesn't import EPS (well I haven't found a way to yet). So has anyone ever had any success creating a 2d object in a program such as illustrator, and being able to import it into AC3d and doing all of your 3d work there?

I am just having a huge issue getting a drawing of somewhat complicated shapes into AC3d, and I don't want to have to trace them in AC3D, there has to be an easier way.

I've had luck with Corel 12 exporting as DXF and importing into AC3D, although others have said the newer version of Corel has problems.

I've also been able to save files out of Corel as a TTF file, then import into AC3D using the text tool. I presume this would work in Illustrator as well.

I read a post about TTF, and I believe you even were one of the posters, but to no avail. Illustrator has no TTF export option

What export options do you have?
