Default The sl plugin ?

Right the big noob question here...

I have looked through all the tutorials available to export sculptey into SL
and it's still not working...

My first test sculpt was the wine glass (came out like a box) in world.

My second attempt was stairs made using normal planes (worked) but when linked gave me a 86 prim count.. (in AC3D it was 14 planes)

My third was stairs again but made as a sculpt using a 32x 32x grid.
(this came out as a single plane that i could not edit)

I am enjoying using this program and have even recommended it to a freind who by the way is having trouble exporting a sphere ? (comes out like a box)

I would love to get this working the program is just so clean and easy to read

So i will run you through what i am doing to export a shape (incase its my error)

1) Make a sculpt and not going over the 32x 32x SL requirment
2) open the texture coordinator and the UV mapper apply etc
3) File / Export / Secondlife boxes...
4) Rez the unpacker in world edit the note card with the info from the slb
5) Click the box....
6) Item rezzes (but in my case just boxes)

I tried all day yesterday to pull this off and no luck...

Please help im tearing my hair out here !

And thanks for any info advice given

The box exporter is a different tool. It exports just boxes for making houses and the like, not sculpties. There's also a tri exporter, which like the box exporter exports triangles. Both are very good for sharp edged shapes that are tricky to do as sculpties, or shapes that are far too large to make as a sculpty, but they require more prims.

For sculpted prims, you need to use the sculpted prim export option.

Here's an SL-specific version of the wineglass tutorial:
http://www.independentdeveloper.com/...prim-wineglass

It's almost the same as the AC3D-general tutorial, but covers UV-mapping for SL.

I'm working on doing the wine glass tutorial. I am stuck on the part where you click the tools > uv map... . I got to tool > and there is no uv map tool there, in fact there are a lot of tools missing from what I see in the video tutorial. Do I need a plug in to get those tools? What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

The UV map plugin should have came with AC3D, I believe.

If not, you can download the UV map plugin and a bunch of others from here: http://supercoldmilk.com/ac3dplug/index.html

Possibly. I think the trial version expires plugins and save functionality after a bit, but I'm not sure.

In the pear video tutorial, the person starts with a cube from the library. I have a cube in my library, but it's "sculpty-subdcube" , meaning subdivided. What's the difference? And where can I get just a regular cube. The subdcube has rounded corners. Not sure if that makes a difference when the pear is concerned. I tried making something today and when I loaded it into SL it didn't look anything like what I had in AC3D. I can't figure out what it is I'm doing wrong. I pretty much created the sculpt map part, like was shown in the wine glass tutorial, which worked perfectly. Errr, I want this to work so bad. I'm trying not to geek out too bad here. lol
