Problems Texturing then Importing to Dark Basic
Alright so heres how it happens:
-Made a basic house. -Loaded a texture and using Texture Coordinator Editor I set it how I wished. -Saved it as .ac and .x in two separate locations. -Imported the .x file in DB. -Made a quick run through code to see how it looks. Here's the problem: -The Texture does not show up in DB. Here is a Screenshot in AC3D then DB respectively. |

Re: Problems Texturing then Importing to Dark Basic
The question I pose is:
Does anyone know how to fix this? A second question I pose is: As you may be able to tell I am not very good at this yet, is it possible to apply a texture to just one surface of an object? |

Are textures and 3d model in same folder as your db listing? Can db find them?

Re: Problems Texturing then Importing to Dark Basic
I don't think they need to be in the same folder, doesn't db call the model? I don't know about the texture thouhg, I would have thought that it already gets applied to the model in AC3D.

Re: Problems Texturing then Importing to Dark Basic
Only a reference of the texture ( the file name ) is stored in the AC3D file and the DirectX file, not the file itself.
There are two options when exporting the model as a DirectX file : - 'Strip Texture File Names' is set ( the default setting ) : Texture file names are stored without the path. The texture file must have the same location as the X file. - 'Strip Texture File Names' is NOT set : The full texture file name including the path is stored in the X file. The texture file can be at a different place. Frank |
